About
Mike Maas is an artist based in Prescott, Arizona. After graduating from art school, he spent more than three decades working as a graphic designer and illustrator before moving fully into a studio practice that spans painting, printmaking, and commercial fine art.
His commercial work includes abstract and figurative paintings created for hospitality, retail, and interior design spaces. Alongside that work, he has developed a more personal body of art rooted in the things that shaped him: monster movies, punk rock, comics, toys, cereal-box color, and the visual noise of pop culture.
That personal thread shows up in bright wood cut-outs, dark humor, and a lowbrow sensibility backed by years of professional craft.

Background
Mike studied graphic design at Kendall College of Art and Design, spent time in the Midwest and Chicago, and eventually landed in the desert Southwest. That long path through design, illustration, and fine art still shows up in the work: strong composition, bold silhouette, and images that feel handmade without losing graphic punch.
